OWH – Veteran’s Day Blog Hop
Happy Saturday!
I was introduced to Operation Write Home after seeing a message from Jennifer at Simple Scrapper; she was looking for sponsors for her Scrappers Give Thanks challenge. Once I read more information about her challenge I knew I wanted to help out. I also knew I wanted to do more.
Coming from a family of veterans and with three cousins currently in the military I’ve always wanted to help but was never quite sure what to do. We do the simple things for our local hero’s around town like donating meals, shaking their hands and telling them thank you but I’ve never known how to support troops overseas.
Operation Write Home is a wonderful place to start for anyone like me who is looking for a way to help. Their mission is “to support our nation’s armed forces by sending blank greeting cards to write home on, as well as cards of gratitude to encourage them”. The current number of cards sent to deployed heroes as of 11/9/09 is 246,076 cards.
The card I created for today’s blog hop is a simple digital scrapbooking type of card. I designed this cards as a simple Any Hero card craft for my boys to be able to assemble as a lesson for them to appreciate and be grateful for the men and women that fight for their freedom. We just assembled the cards as is but you can always add additional ribbons, bows, and other embellishments. You can personalize this card any way you want.
For anyone who would like to create this card, below you will find a link to download a ready-to-print card that includes drop shadows, a blank card and a sheet of embellishments. Cards are .jpg format, sized 4.25” by 5.5” and come stamped with the “OWH Made by” stamp ready for you to add your signature.

For each comment left, the boys and I will make a card and send it in our next package. One lucky winner who leaves a comment on the day of the hop (Saturday, Nov. 14th, 2009) will win a $10.00 coupon towards any digital products purchase at my ACOT Shoppe.
I hope you are enjoying the Veteran’s Day Blog Hop. The next stop on the hop is Erika at http://bekahjosworld.blogspot.com. Her husband recently returned from a tour in May and I’m sure they would love to hear how much we appreciate their sacrifices, so please be sure to leave them some love.
You’ll also want to be sure and stop by the OWH Home Front Blog if you fall off the hop and for some special incentives.
Happy Card Making!

Stacy that is really great that you have your kids involved. I’m tempted to leave more than one comment so they can make more than one card for me! LOL My son is also helping me make cards for OWH. It’s a great community service project and teaches so many life lessons !!

This is such a heartening venture. Here in Canada, the painting guild I belong to also creates and sends cards for our troops. They range from painted, thru to stamped and embossed cards in every style imaginable and are received with great appreciation. It’s such a little thing we can do for our heroes!
