Letter from Santa

Last night I made letters from Santa to the boys and honestly, I think they are pretty cute.

This is going to be quite the production at our house this year. Friday morning (the day after Thanksgiving) the boys are going to write their letters to Santa and make the envelopes. Then I will stash those lovely letters in a safe place and put the letters from Santa I made tonight into the envelopes. Then hubs, the boys and I are going to make a family trip to the post office and the boys are going to mail their letters themselves to the North Pole.

You might be asking right about now ‘Why all the fuss?’ Well, did you know you can mail a letter within a letter to North Pole, Alaska and they will open the letter, postmark the inside letter with a special Santa North Pole postmark and re-mail the inside letter to the addressee? How cool is that to keep the spirit of Christmas in a young child?

In 2006, the USPS had a press release explaining this process in more detail, including the address you need to mail the original envelope to here.

The USPS also has a list of cities post offices with Christmas names which you can find here. Interested customers can write to these Post Offices for postmarks to keep or to share with friends. Enclose a stamped, addressed card or letter in another envelope or box labeled “Christmas re-mailing” and address it to the postmaster of one of the towns listed below. Please allow enough time for postmarking, re-mailing, and delivery.

I bet you’re still wondering about the cute little letter I designed last night aren’t you? I made this letter with my Christmas Joy kit. You can find a link to download a blank letter and matching envelope below. I hope you can use them to make wonderful memories and celebrate the Christmas season with your children and grandchildren.

I’ve been doing the same thing for the last 6 years! Except I used to do it not only for my 2 children, but all my day-care children as well, which could amount to up to 9 kids plus my 2!!!! I used to pick up Christmas stationary at the Dollar Tree, but since I’ve moved they don’t have any of them near me. This is just perfect!!!!! Thank you so much for sharing these!!!!! This will make it so much easier (besides the fact that I only have to do 2 letters this year)!!!
